[Technical Information] Types of Polishing (Mirror Finishing) and Their Differences
Types of polishing and their differences! We will introduce "cloth buff processing" and "single crystal processing" respectively.
Among resin processing, acrylic (PMMA) processing is often used as a design product at delivery destinations, and there are products that require polishing on the processed surface. Polishing (also known as grinding or mirror finishing) includes cloth buff polishing and single crystal processing, each with its own characteristics. First, "cloth buff processing" involves smoothing the processed surface after cutting, planing, and NC processing with sandpaper, and then applying the processed surface against a rotating cloth. The frictional heat melts the surface of the processed area, smoothing out any irregularities before cloth buff processing and giving the processed surface a glossy finish. Additionally, "single crystal processing" uses a tool called a single crystal diamond tool in NC processing to finish the processed surface, resulting in a glossy finish. 【Characteristics of Cloth Buff Processing】 ■ Achieves the highest level of transparency in the final finish. ■ By performing cloth buff finishing on transparent acrylic to the extreme, it is possible to approach the material's transparency as closely as possible. ■ Even for products with stepped processing, if there is a suitable surface for cloth buffing, processing can be done. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
